Don’t you wish you could turn back time, go back 10 or 15 years, and buy tons of property in Hawaii? Don’t you wish you had the foresight back then to invest your money in inexpensive beachfront homes that would now be worth millions today? Don’t answer that – it’s rhetorical.

Does this sound familiar? I have lost thousands of dollars or more in the markets and I was investing through a reputable broker or financial expert. I made this statement around the year 2000 after firing my 3rd broker on three years. After all the lying, arrogance, misrepresentation and down right dishonesty, I was through with brokers and brokerage firms. They had unwittingly given me the tools that I needed to take control of my own portfolio and out perform any result that I ever achieved with a brokerage firm.

Outings – In terms of relationship building, nothing is more important than some good face time. Several times per year, perhaps 3 or 4 times per year, you should spend an evening or a good part of a day with your Private investor and/or their spouse. Take them to a sporting event. Invite them to a long lunch. Take them out to a fancy dinner. Face time is very important. You don’t have to talk about business the entire time. In fact, it’s almost better if you don’t. Let them see that you’re a complete person and they’ll fall more in love with you. People feel good about investing and doing business with people they like and trust. Why not go as far as you can go toward building trust at rapport?

The production of biodiesel fuel can open up great Investment opportunities. Think of how many types of vehicles use diesel fuel including cement mixers, school buses and farm vehicles. This is a huge volume of vehicles on the road that use diesel. Now think what the impact would be of all those vehicles using biodiesel. And looking for bargains is a lot easier than trying to time your trades to take advantage of the rise and fall of the market. Studies have shown that the biggest gains come on a handful of trading days.

Once you have found the territory, find out everything you can about it. It is important to know what the prices were of recently sold properties. This will tell you what is a good deal, and what is overpriced. Also find out what buyers are going to want to know. Is it about schools, shopping, the crime rates, or mass transit? Know the answer for other questions that buyers are going to ask.

Do you have time for the activity? Remember that a business venture is not a get-rich-quick scheme. You have to put in effort. If you cannot, then this business won’t work for you.

In conclusion, remember, your risk acceptance level is more about how you feel about your money than anything else. Will you always be stressed about the performance of your portfolio? How about your strategy? Many people do not have enough emotional risk tolerance for stock investments. If everybody changed their strategy to the long term investment for dividends, then they would not have to worry about investing risk and their risk tolerance. Try this method progressively. You will surely come to agree it is best method.
