The problem that the world is facing right now is global warming which threatens our mother earth. Because of the energy that is wasted due to global warming, it is now resulting to energy shortage. This is the reason why electric companies keep on increasing the bill. So because of these circumstances we have to deal with the energy problem and the solution that they have is to go with energy saving hour. They call this the “earth hour” which indeed had a success in terms of energy saving. We don’t need to wait to wait for earth hour to be observed just to save energy; we can do this often as we can in our own home.
In our case we will start with a Canyon Hydro — 350 kW Pelton wheel similar to the one picture above. This unit has a 350KW GE induction generator with servo control and grid switching gear. It is currently a 28 inch pitch Pelton wheel with a single 4.125 inch dia. nozzle (3.5 in effective jet) which can be upgraded to a two jet unit for more flow and therefore power. Our potential head is less than the design head so we will seek to increase flow. The variable jet control combined with the extra nozzle and pelton turbine gives a better range of efficiencies for our variable flow regime. A crossflow unit would probably be a better match but it has less efficiency.
If you get better at retaining customers you don’t need to find as many new ones to have the same level of sales as last year. So if you add as many customers as last year you’ll grow even faster. I have modelled this in spreadsheets. It is worth the time to do that – you wouldn’t believe the difference it can make.
One of the reasons solar energy was not used in the past was it could not be stored and used later. Modern technology has made many strides in storing and using renewable energy. In today’s world, batteries to store solar or wind generated energy are much more efficient.
If we are to look at the world’s consumption on oil based products you can clearly see that it rises each day. One clear example for this is the traffic we see on our roads. And the production and reserves for this does not really grow in an instant. If we really have to seek a power source it should be the one that comes from a natural flowing stream of energy. And there’s nothing more available energy in the world than green energy.
The same principles that apply to living off grid can also be used for any house, even if it’s still connected to the grid. You can use windmills, hydropower or solar panels if you want to get your energy at least partially from renewable energy, while getting rid of energy provided by power plants.
Tom wanted at least a half dozen hens. Their city ordinance allowed for this, but not for a rooster, which was okay with Tom and Barbara, because they weren’t planning to breed more chickens. A half dozen hens would give them just over two dozen eggs a week. Their manure, when added to their compost heap, will give them a superior fertilizer for their garden.
What we must trust in the future is renewable resources. These resources are all resources that provide us with plenty to offer, and never ends. They recharge and allow us to enjoy them again and again. Renewable resources include solar, wind, biomass, hydrogen, geothermal, ocean, and hydropower. We need all this, and we now have access to each of them.
